I was wondering if you could help me with a question I have about Saint Ignatius of Antioch. Can you refer me to any sources, article or books that show that Saint Ignatius believed the holy Eucharist to be the real body and blood of Christ? Also, how would you answer a protestant who claims that Saint Ignatius spoke allegorically when he referred to the Eucharist as the body of Christ? It has been argued that because Saint Ignatius spoke allegorically in some places, this means he was being allegorical when he spoke about the Eucharist being the body and blood of Christ.
