QUESTION:

12/6/2009: In John 6.63 when Jesus said "It is the spirit that quickeneth; THE FLESH PROFITETH NOTHING: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life" doesn't this contradict the belief in the Real Presence? Why does this not show that Jesus was simply speaking metaphorically when he said "my flash is meat" etc?

ANSWER:

Jesus was speaking metaphorically in the sense that we do not physically eat his physically flesh and drink his physical blood. That would profit nothing to say the least... Belief in the real presence is not that.
