ANSWER:
Actually, this can be seen as a welcome return to Apostolic Tradition which is always binding on us:
Titus 1:8 "I desire, then, that in every place the men should pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument..."
At the very least, praying with lifted hand (and kneeling - see below) should be the private practice at home.
In general, this practice of raising one's hands is observed during the Our Father. There is also a return to the practice of kneeling at various point on non-Sunday services, which again is the ancient and normative practice.
PS: indeed, there are also specific times when only the priest prays with uplifted hands (not the people). |
