QUESTION:

5/27/2010: What is the position of the Russian Orthodox Church on the Book of Revelation?

ANSWER:

The Moscow Patriachate ("Russian Orthodox Church" - a family of local churches within the universal Orthodox Communion) has no official interpretation of the Book of Revelation, but the book is recognized as canonical and as the ending and climax of the Biblical corpus. The book of Revelation, for various reasons, is no read in public in the church (i.e. the lectionary does not contain lessons from this book). However, there are many icons based on this book.
