How can I become an Orthodox priest?
Only a canonical diocesan bishop in good standing can ordain a presbyter or priest. The synod of bishops and the diocese may have rules and guidelines on the qualification (in additional to the canonical rules, some of them pertaining to marriage). Typically, a man who has been Orthodox for several years and who is of good repute (as in 2 Timothy / Titus) may request a blessing to attend an approved seminary. In any case, the decision to ordain remains the prerogative of the bishop.
